Our story begins with a captivating mission: transforming our key banking client’s end-to-end banking operations in an era of change. Back then, MKB Bank was the second largest bank in Hungary in terms of balance sheet, with its primary portfolio in corporate and wholesale followed by retail segment. The introduction of T24 (today’s Temenos Transact core banking system) was the largest core banking implementation project to date in the country and so it was for Temenos itself. Winikon had a significant and momentous role in this exciting mega-project, participating in all key areas like domestic and international payments, teller, deposit, lending, trade finance, transaction queueing or accounting. Our scope of services extended from gathering business requirements, business and technical planning, local developments, testing as well as we had a vital role in upgrade projects.
Our founder, Viktor Weininger was responsible for the entire core banking operation and support, ensuring business continuity of the production system. Upon Viktor’s ideas and with his lead the bank’s very simple system monitoring tool was completely re-designed and a complex IT operation software solution was created from scratch powered by his vision of making the system error-free and reliable. MKB was motivated to encourage this initiative as they started to realize that upcoming bugs were running lower while operation was running more seamless than ever. This is the early history of how GAMMA was productized which license rights were acquired by ABRIS a Temenos technology partner where Viktor still holds the CTO position. GAMMA is currently monitoring and running automated processes at more than 55 banking production environments worldwide.
In the context of GAMMA, Winikon has participated in several international projects involving various Temenos implementations and covering diverse fields of banking services as a subcontractor. The clientele includes major banks running on Temenos Transact core banking system across North America, Middle East, Africa, and Europe. GAMMA implementations were led by Winikon which resulted in gathering first-hand insights intro core banking processes, various organizations, and their working methods. This valuable knowledge shed light on what issues banking clients face today and the directions Winikon should take to help streamline these processes. We focus on digital transformation methodology, including DevOps transformation which helps the operation processes, automating every step of the software development lifecycle with a particular attention to testing and CI/CD processes, as well as introducing and implementing the best tools and solutions to our customers through our partnerships.
